Delightful Denny’s Christmas Mingle

Years ago, after much feeling and healing, I chose to make my OWN Holiday Tradition!  I LOVE to go to DENNY’s Diner for my CHRISTMAS DAY meal!   I LOVE to mix and mingle with ALL THE OTHER souls, enjoying the WARMTH within DENNY’s from fellow customers and the cheerful, efficient serving staff!

As I entered, wearing my Tinsel Deely Bobber, headband – I received many smiles and comments of appreciation!  One gentleman was KIND in letting me know we needed to give our names on a list (NOT SANTA’S LIST) … due to the large crowd!

I offered my standing space, along the wall – near the door – to a care representative of a middle-aged man – challenged with brain and physical development issues.   The crowd of people waiting in the lobby, could cause one to be a bit jumpy – if the brain doesn’t process activity as quickly.  I explained to the care rep, that I had had an older sister with brain damage – and wanted to be accommodating.

A grandmother came in with her 7 to 8 year old grandson.  I was talking and joking with them, while waiting.  She gave me permission to offer him an: ORANGE YOU GREAT!  or  ‘YOU ARE ‘BEARY’ NICE!’ life lifter tool.  She gave the OK! … and he chose the BEARY NICE! one!  He then got SPARKLING, SMILING EYES showing me and telling me about his POWER RANGERS MOTORCYLE with FANGE TEETH!  I told I thought it was SUPER GREAT!  He was excited to share the information.

When I got seated, it was at a 2 seater table IN THE MIDDLE of the ROOM!  I decided to ACCEPT the CENTER OF ATTENTION seat – since I was already drawing attention to myself with the TINSEL DEELY BOBBER Headbands! ha ha

A senior woman, dining with her daughter, told me SHE LOVED MY HEAD ORNAMENT!  When she left to go to the restroom, I asked her daughter if I could give her one of my:  ‘YOU ARE KIND-HEARTED!’ life lifter tools with a red heart glued on the end of a popsicle stick.  I put it on her PLACE MAT at her both – telling the daughter to tell her: SANTA BROUGHT IT!  hee hee

The WONDERFUL young POWER RANGERS soul – sat to the table to the right of me … with his mom and grandmother.  I TOLD HIM HOW LUCKY I WAS to have such a WONDERFUL person sitting next to me!  He then showed me how his POWER RANGER motorcycle had a kick-stand – as well as OPENED UP into an OUTSTRETCHED shape!  I exclaimed HOW WONDERFUL A TOY IT WAS!

Then, a table of 6 family members sat to my left.  I joked with the young, teen male sitting to my right. He had on an ORANGE hoodie – sweatshirt.  I asked:  ‘ORANGE’ you glad you wore that jacket, today?   HE LOVED IT!  I then offered him one of my:   ‘ORANGE’ YOU GREAT! life lifter tools.  HE ACCEPTED IT wholeheartedly – saying how GREAT IT WAS .. how WONDERFUL – and was SO APPRECIATIVE of the GIFT!   I told him he MADE MY DAY with his acceptance and reaction!    I later offered him one of m:  EYE-ROLLER KINDA DAY?  lift lifters. He got a KICK out of THAT one, too … and understood how VALUABLE it could be in the right moment!

The senior woman came back from the restroom, discovered her gift.  hee hee  She and her husband and daughter got up to leave the diner.  She stopped over to thank me. She complimented me on my PURPLE sweatshirt.  She said:  WHEN YOU GET OLDER AND WHITE-HAIRED – THIS WILL BE A GREAT COLOR FOR YOU!   I thanked her for her sharing of wisdom and told her about my recent discovery of a wrinkle on either side of my face, next to my ears.  I told her my friend’s FACEBOOK PAGE:   PUT A TWINKLE IN YOUR WRINKLE helped me to SMILE about it!   She loved it!

There was a very fast, efficient server running around – serving her tables.  I LOVE SHARING GREETINGS in MANY LANGUAGES with people who are bilingual from other countries.  I found out she was JAPANESE!  I was struggling to think of how to say basic greetings in Japanese when… I REMEMBERED THE SONG:  DOMO ARIGATO Mr. Roberto!    I also remembered the phrase KO NEETCHIE WAH (my phonetic spelling of  HOW ARE YOU or HELLO) – which my dad learned during WW2.     When the server was checking on the table to my right, I said:  KO NEETCHIE WAH?   She LOVED IT!  She understood me! hee hee  I then followed with:  DO MO ARI-GHATO!  (Thank you, very much!) in Japanese.  She was smiling and thankful!

Just as I was getting ready to leave, a man sat down in a booth with his wife.  He had a LONG WHITE BEARD and LONG WHITE HAIR in a pony tail.  I said:  SANTA! IS THAT YOU?  They chuckled.  He said: YES – I’VE FINISHED MY ROUNDS – IT’S BEEN A LONG NIGHT!  Hey! Santa has a sense of humor!   I told him I saw SANTA driving a red pick-up truck the other day!  I thought he traded in the rheindeer sleigh for better transportation!  ha ha

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL .. AND TO ALL A HAPPY, SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR!   and …

IT’S OKAY TO CREATE YOUR OWN TRADITION AND A NEW, HEALTHY, RELAXING FUN WAY TO CELEBRATE!

MAY THIS HOLIDAY BE YOURS to share in a healthy way – PEACE, COMPLIMENTS, KINDNESS and FLEXIBILITY TO ALL …  AND TO ALL A GOOD LIFE!
